Software Enhancements

General

1) Implemented Source Control Functionality to TestVue.

This allows files to be modified whilst maintaining records of changes and allowing you to revert back to previous issues.

2) Implemented Shoehorning of Device Reference text.

This allows text of small surface devices to be inserted into the body size. This text remains visible until the zoom factor is such that the text is too small and therefore is disabled. This is enabled / disabled from the Board Properties Dialog Box.

Picture Mode

a) Added the ability to import both top and bottom sides of the board.

b) Added the ability to add a Pin Identifier to an existing device to improve the operator interface. This allows the programmer to highlight a device pin when adding Guards etc in the same way as you can in the Graphics Mode.

Program Board

1) Operator Text

a) Added the ability to add Highlight information to the Board and Device Text (as per TestFlow Operator Message).

This is not applicable to the Device Fail Text or the Board Notes.

b) Added a Check Box to enable Tone Generation in the Operator Message Boxes (instead of having to apply the TONE Command)

c) Added the ability to minimise Message dialogs.

2) Guards

Added the ability to use the Analog DMM on Guard channels to the drop down list box in the Tests Tab. This allows you to measure Volts, Resistance etc between a Guard Channel and the test Clip.

Libraries

Added Optimisation for Auto Clip Detect as large Test Clips were taking a long time to detect pins.

Software Fixes

Program Studio

1) Fix Issue With Netgen no longer working with Spider Clips.

2) Fixed the problem of not displaying the Text correctly in the Define Board Editor (this was as a result of allowing Editing of the Board Text in Define Board)

3) Removed the limitation of not being able to drive above the MHV 0.5 volt level. This had implications when programming low voltage devices (originally implemented on Patch 1672)

two questions

I have two questions :

I tried to test the IC AM25LS14 , but all of them didn't pass the test. The problem is that the functional source associated to this component is the IC 74384, but this is not similar to am25ls14.Do you have the right functional source?
The second question is about the testVue patch. Ive couldnt to finish the updating because appear this message : Failed to locate TestVue Installed Folder . Could you help me,please ?

Cable Assy Parts List Please

I understand the ribbon cable Assemblies for PPI and PPII are not available from Diagnosys. Can you please provide a parts list for the cables, (particularly the ends connectors and pins that fit the adapter for DIP ICs are elusive).

Variables in TestFlow

I have a program which finishes with a VI test on what could be one of three different versions of an IC which all have different signatures. The simple solution would be to ask the operator to enter a number (from a table in the text box) corresponding to the version of the IC and then using "Decision" to branch down to the test for the correct IC. With only two possibilities it wouldn't matter how it's done, it's still the same number of steps. With more than two possibilities, using a variable has additional steps within TestFlow for every possible outcome but the operator would only have to enter a single response.

I have added a variable but can not get an operator entered value (1, 2 or 3)into the variable in order to use it for the "Decision" comparison. How do you manipulate variables within the TestFlow environment?

EDIF File conversion problem

I generated the EDIF file from the Schematic tab>>Utilities drop down menu. When I impoted the .EDN file into Cadence OrCAD Schematic, I can view the schematic but it generated unique instance reference designators instead of the component names. How can I make sure that Cadence picks up the component names instead of the ref. designators? Is there a way I can change the EDIF file so that OrCAD Schematic will show the component names instead of the instance ref. designators?

no functional test

There's no way I can be the only one of us that has this problem... What do you do when you need to Functional Test an IC that is not in the library? I know there is a way to "write" a functional test, but I don't know how. We are going to have Block 2 classes from DiagnoSYS soon, but I have ICs I need to test yesterday. Any suggestions? (No, I can't ditch the circuit card - it belongs to the Army.)

8-pin DIPs

I recently started "shooting" a circuit card that has 8-pin DIPs. The functional test for the clips are in the PinPoint II Library so I should be able to perform a functional test. However, whenever I click on any of the 8-pin DIPs, the program gives me an error and shuts down. If I hadn't saved my work before clicking on one of those DIPs, I get to re-accomplish all the work I had done prior to clicking on the IC. So, what's the deal? Has anyone else experienced this? I have tested many different kind of ICs with no problem, but these 8-pin IC's have got me stumped.

No Waveforms

I have a Pinpoint II system and cannot "View Waveforms" when I look at any component. Our Pinpoint I system did allow us to look at waveforms so I am quite sure I am doing it right. Also, our other Pinpoint II allows us to view the waveforms. I have recently (yesterday) updated our system to the latest version, but that didn't help. Any thoughts?

PLCC Testing

I recently started "shooting" a new board which contains several PLCC chips. I have never done a PLCC before so these questions may seem alittle "Here's Your Sign" type. None of the chips are in sockets and cannot be unplugged. So, how do I test them? Can they be Function Tested or am I limited to just probing? One of the chips is 192 pin and a couple others are 66 pin. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Calibration questions

What are the available calibrators. I have calibrated everything but Amps and AC volts . The system calls for 180VAC at 1Khz and 1.8Amps at 1KHZ. Most power supplies are not capable of these outputs. If you could supply a contact for such a devise I would be most grateful. Thanks.

Burndy connector part numbers?

I am trying to locate the part numbers for the Burndy connectors. I have had no luck at Burndy's website. The Pinpoint help file doesn't appear to have the numbers either. I need both the male and female connectors.

PRETEXT Commands

We can't get the PRETEXT commands to work properly.

When we use this command, the Pretext item is checked in the device's right-click menu and the text is in there. But the text does not display when the device test is run. Sometimes the text will begin to display after it has been modified, sometimes not.

We can see no difference between our code and the code in, say, Alleyn's 74123 test that works properly.

Any pointers on this would be greatly appreciated.
